Food Bank Use Surges

This is a disturbing bit of news from today’s paper. Food Bank use in Canada is up 18% since March 2008. So many people are victims of this economic downturn. Thousands have lost jobs that were previously able to support themselves and their families. Thousands have been unable to find well paying jobs. Others have had their Employment Insurance payments run out. This is especially sad as the holiday season is right around the corner.

Please, if you are able, please donate non-perishable food items or money to your local food bank this season.

Another story in the news today is about how great life is for the richest Canadians.  Maybe if those people helped out a bit more we wouldn’t have these stories of personal tragedy.
